Detention Oversight
The letter calls on Congress to restore the Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman.
That office exists for a reason. Detention systems need independent review, complaint handling, and public accountability. Without that, abuse becomes easier to bury.
Why It Matters
Immigration detention sits at the intersection of civil rights, public health, law enforcement, and federal spending. It should not run on trust.
If Congress funds detention, Congress should also fund meaningful oversight. No ombudsman means fewer paths for detained people, families, advocates, and whistleblowers to force problems into the open.
Send the Letter

- Ask your senators and House member whether they support detention oversight in the next Homeland Security funding bill.
