The Voting Fight
The letter pushes Congress to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
The ask is familiar because the need never went away. States continue to change voting rules, redraw maps, and add procedural hurdles that hit some communities harder than others.
Why It Matters
Voting rights need enforcement before the damage happens. Waiting until after an election means the people harmed by bad rules have already lost time, access, and sometimes representation.
Federal preclearance and stronger review standards would not solve every problem. They would make suppression harder to hide.
