Start Here if Your Representative Needs to Hear From You.
Most people do not need a lecture. They need a link, a number, a script, and ten minutes.
Send a Letter
Resistbot is the default action tool here because it removes friction. Text RESIST to 50409 when you have a petition code, or start from a curated action on this site.
- Be specific about the issue.
- Mention your zip code.
- One issue per message.
- Respectful and firm beats theatrical.
- Ask for a public position, not a private note of concern.
Call Your Representatives
Calls matter more than email when the issue is moving fast. Staffers log constituent positions. Keep it short. That is the whole trick.
U.S. Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121
Script: “Hi, my name is [name]. I live in [zip code]. I’m calling to ask [senator or representative name] to oppose [bill or action]. I want them to support oversight and speak out publicly. Thank you.”
Find Your Representatives
Your U.S. senators represent the whole state. Your U.S. House member represents your district. Your state legislators handle separate fights. In red states, those offices need to know dissent is local, organized, and persistent.
Registration is basic infrastructure. In Texas, the deadline is 30 days before an election. You will usually need a Texas driver’s license, state ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
Check Your Registration
Do not assume your status is fine because it was fine last cycle. People move. Records get purged. Inactivity can trigger problems.
